Ernest Hartles died from wounds on 3rd April, 1915, after having been brought back to the United Kingdom but as yet, there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. The 1st King's Royal Rifle Corps battalion was part of 6 Brigade, 2nd Division, that had arriveed in France at the beginning of the war and had been involved in much of the fighting since then.
